Oily scalp is a hair condition, which causes the hair to look oily and greasy within a day or two of washing it. It is caused due to the excessive oil productions by the glands in one’s scalp. This condition is fairly common and can get aggravated further in summer due to heat and sweat. If you face this unpleasant hair condition, try these natural home remedies, which promise to treat an oily scalp.
Tea contains tannic acid that acts as an astringent to help prevent oil build-up on the scalp. Take a tea bag and dip it in some lukewarm water and apply it to your scalp. Allow it to stay for a few minutes before you rinse it off.
Extremely diluted baking soda can also help control oil production. Take about three spoons of baking soda in about a litre of water and mix it well. Now apply this to your hair and leave it on for 15 minutes before your rinse it off.
Lemon juice contains essential nutrients that boost hair health. Apart from that it is acidic and helps control oil production in the scalp. Allow it to stay on your hair for about five to ten minutes before you wash it out with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo.
Apple cider vinegar
Like lemon juice, apple cider vinegar also acts like an astringent on your hair to control the excess oil on your scalp. Take about one fourth cup of apple cider vinegar and dilute it with about a litre of water and pour it into a spray bottle. Now little by little spray this solution on your scalp and leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off.
Beer can also help calm an oily scalp as it has a drying effect on the scalp. Use some beer to wash your hair and it will not only control the oil but it will also leave your hair shiny and smooth.
