“There’s a first time for everything,”
The same applies to high-low design collaborations, the newcomer here being the ever-glamorous L’Wren Scott. She’s taking her first foray into the world of fashion collaborations with a newly announced limited-edition holiday collection for Banana Republic.
A favourite of Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie, Scott is known for her love of all things glittering and gold, making her the perfect candidate for the glammed up, holiday fête-worthy line. The designer, whose brand embodies a much more red carpet-ready style (she is, after all, Mick Jagger’s girlfriend) than Banana Republic’s previous designer partner, Milly, commented on the announcement saying: “A partnership of this scale was a first for me, and I was very excited to find a true partner in Simon [Kneen, Banana Republic creative director and executive vice president of design].”
Three original prints have been created for the 50+ piece collection, which includes clothing and accessories for women. On the racks we can expect sequined party dressed, bejewelled cardigans, tailored denim and pencil skirts. The collection will include tasteful accents of sparkly chains, silk and faux fur with a colour palette ranging from ultra-violet to lipstick-red. Banana Republic tweeted their excitement over the news: “The rumors are true! We’re teaming up with for a limited edition capsule collection, debuting 12/5. Who’s excited?” We know we are!
The Banana Republic L’Wren Scott Collection will be featured in Banana Republic’s Holiday advertising campaign and will launch at select Banana Republic retail locations worldwide and online December 5, 2013.
