Oily skin is not the only skin type, which is prone to acne and pimples, people with dry skin also face breakouts. Since, the skin type differs, a person with dry skin cannot use all the same methods or products as a person with oily skin. In this article, we list out a couple of ways to treat acne if you have dry skin.
It is a common fear, that moisturising the skin will cause acne or worsen the problem. But, it is important for people with dry skin to continue moisturising, even if they are prone to breakouts. Moisturising will keep your skin hydrated and will also help combat dryness. But when dealing with dry skin and acne, choose a moisturiser that is oil-free, noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic. Also, be careful about special moisturisers for acne control as they can further dry your skin.
Choose the right cleanser
Cleansing, toning and moisturing, play an important role in one’s skincare routine. But remember to choose your cleanser wisely when you have dry skin. Although ingredients like benzoyl peroxide is known to help beat acne, it won’t be very useful if you have dry skin. Look for a creamy cleanser instead. This will help banish your acne without robbing your skin of its moisture.
Wash your face correctly
Washing your face too many times a day, can rob it of its moisture and increase dryness. So, limit your washes to about two washes a day, if you have dry skin. However, you can occasionally splash plain water on your face throughout the day. Also, remember to skip the hot water during showers as this can contribute to dryness. Try lukewarm water instead.
