Tips for getting in the mood for SEX

Not everyone is in the mood for sex all the time. Sometimes it takes a little effort to feel like getting frisky. If sex hasn’t exactly been the first thing on your mind lately, let us help. We put together some sex tips to help shake up your sex life and get you in the mood for it.


1: Ditch distractions
Digital distractions have a way of impeding intimacy. Between checking your IPhone for work emails and watching TV to texting your BFF and shopping online, the more time you spend in front of a screen, the less you’ll be in the mood for sex. If you’re distracted by incoming messages or zoning out in front of a movie, how are you ever going to feel like having sex? The remedy for this is to unplug (turn off the TV, hide your Blackberry, put the laptop under the couch). The first step to getting in the mood for sex is to make time for it.

2: Get silly and have fun
While it may look it in the movies, sex doesn’t have to be serious. In fact, it probably shouldn’t be. Rather than take the whole process too seriously (which can make it even harder to get in the mood), get silly. Have a wrestling match, get in a tickle fight, chase each other around the bedroom – whatever loosens you up. It may sound childish, but chances are it will make you laugh and laughter is a stress reliever. You’ll have a much better chance of getting in the mood for sex if you’re relaxed and giggling rather than stressed out and worried about work or something else on your mind.


3: Revisit the past
Think back to how easy it was to get in the mood for sex when you first started dating. You probably barely made it to the bedroom most of the time. Sure you might be in a different phase of your relationship now, but you can recreate some of those initial feelings. Go where you used to go on your first few dates, light candles when you have dinner, slow dance in the living room and hug and kiss a lot. Do whatever it takes to rekindle the spark that clearly was there at the start. It might take some effort, but before you know it, you’ll feel much more open to (and in the mood for) intimacy.


4: Schedule a date night
Too busy to go out at night? It’s time to add date night to your to-do list. Just knowing that there’s a night set aside just for the two of you can be enough to build up some excitement and anticipation. Getting in the mood for sex can be hard when you have a lot on your plate, but if you know that Saturday night is your night, then you’re more likely to be in the mood by week’s end and excited to spend time together.
